Applies to: the Sherlock Warrants web application and mobile applications ("Sherlock Warrants," "the Service"). Operated by: Berner Enterprises, LLC ("we," "us").
Sherlock Warrants is a professional tool for sworn law enforcement officers. It helps officers prepare search warrant applications and related legal documents. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We wrote this policy in plain language on purpose. If anything is unclear, contact us at support@be-xr.com.
1. Who can use Sherlock Warrants
Sherlock Warrants is for sworn law enforcement officers and other verified justice-system professionals. It is not intended for the general public and is not directed at anyone under 18.
Sherlock Warrants accepts no crime reports, tips, or complaints from anyone, and transmits nothing to any law enforcement agency.
2. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, work email address, agency, rank or title, badge number, and related professional details. We use this to verify that you are a sworn officer and to operate your account.
Sign-in information. You sign in with your work email address, your password, and a six-digit code from an authenticator application on your device. On mobile devices, you may also choose to enable Face ID or fingerprint sign-in on your own device. Passwords are stored only in protected form, never as plain text.
Work product you create. The case information you type into the Service (such as probable cause statements, names, locations, and case facts) is used to prepare your documents. This content is not ours and never becomes ours. Warrant documents and the case information in them are official records of your law enforcement agency. be. claims no ownership of this content and uses it for one purpose only: to provide the Service to you. We treat it as sensitive law enforcement information (see Section 5).
Usage and device information. We collect basic technical information such as device type, app version, log data, and how features are used. We use this to keep the Service secure and working properly.
Payment information. If you purchase an optional subscription (for example, to remove sponsor placements), payment is handled by the payment provider: Apple (for purchases made in the iOS app), Google Play (for purchases made in the Android app), or Stripe (for purchases made on the web). We do not receive or store your full card number.
3. How artificial intelligence is used, and what is sent to it
Sherlock Warrants uses artificial intelligence to help draft documents. We want to be precise about how this works:
- When you write a warrant, the case information you enter is processed by an AI model, Anthropic's Claude (Sonnet 4.5), running through Amazon Bedrock inside our AWS GovCloud (US) environment. This is a U.S. government-focused cloud environment operated under strict security controls.
- Your information is sent to this AI model for one purpose only: to prepare the document you asked for.
- Your information is never used to train AI models. Amazon Bedrock does not use customer content to train models, and we do not use your case information, account information, or documents to train any AI system, ours or anyone else's.
- Your information is not sent to consumer AI services, public chatbots, or any system outside our secured environment.
- Sherlock's internal legal knowledge system (the material that helps the AI follow correct warrant formats and cite correct statutes) is built from legal source material such as statutes, court rules, and standard warrant formats. It is not built from users' case data.
When you create your account, we ask you to acknowledge how this artificial intelligence processing works. Using the artificial intelligence features is your choice: nothing you enter is processed by artificial intelligence unless you use one of those features, and the rest of the Service works normally without them.
4. Sponsors and advertising
Sherlock Warrants is free for sworn law enforcement because sponsors support it. Sponsor placements appear in designated areas of the Service. Here is what that means for your information:
- We do not sell your personal information to sponsors or anyone else.
- By default, sponsors do not receive your personal information. They receive only aggregate statistics (for example, the total number of times a placement was shown). These statistics never identify you.
- If you ask a sponsor to contact you, you choose to share your details with them. Some sponsor placements let you request a follow-up. If (and only if) you complete and submit a sponsor's contact form, the details you enter (such as your name, agency, and a callback number or email) are sent to that sponsor so they can respond. Nothing is sent unless you submit the form, you control what you enter, and your case information is never included.
- We never share your case information with sponsors. Probable cause statements, names, locations, and case facts are never disclosed to a sponsor under any circumstances.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use third-party advertising networks that do.
An optional subscription is available to remove sponsor placements. Whether or not you subscribe, the privacy commitments above are the same.
5. Security and how case information is protected
Case information entered into Sherlock Warrants is handled as sensitive law enforcement data:
- The Service is hosted in AWS GovCloud (US), a cloud environment designed for U.S. government workloads.
- Our security controls are aligned to the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy.
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Access to systems holding case information is restricted and logged.
No system is perfectly secure, but protecting officer work product is the core design requirement of this Service.
6. Who we share information with
We share information only with:
- Service providers that operate the platform on our behalf, principally Amazon Web Services (hosting, AI processing through Amazon Bedrock, and email delivery). Providers are bound to use the information only to provide their service to us. These service providers, including Amazon Web Services, are contractually bound to protect this information to the same standard we do, and the environments they operate for us are held to the same FBI Criminal Justice Information Services Security Policy controls described in Section 5.
- Payment providers (Apple, Google Play, or Stripe) to process optional subscription payments.
- Sponsors you choose to contact. If you submit a sponsor's contact form to request a follow-up, the details you enter are shared with that sponsor for that purpose only. This happens solely at your initiative and never includes case information.
- Legal requirements. If required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the safety and rights of users or the public.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for advertising.
7. How long we keep information, and how to delete your account
- Your account information and saved documents are kept while your account is active.
- You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile, then Delete Account) or by contacting support@be-xr.com. When you delete your account, your personal account information is deleted from active systems.
- Security and audit records (for example, sign-in logs and records of system activity) are retained for seven years, as required by the FBI CJIS Security Policy. These records do not contain case facts. Our audit records are tamper-evident, and we support your agency's discovery, disclosure, and records obligations promptly at its direction.
- Warrant documents. Warrant content is the property of the officer's law enforcement agency. be. is a service provider processing it on the agency's behalf and claims no ownership of it. If you use Sherlock Warrants under your agency's deployment, your agency is the owner and custodian of warrant content, and its retention (including any requirement to retain or to delete) follows your agency's records-retention policy. All warrant content remains available to your agency regardless of your employment status. Deleting your account does not delete records your agency is required to keep, and if your agency directs deletion of its records, we carry out that direction. If you use the Service as an individual and no agency retention policy applies, your stored documents are deleted with your account.
- Where retention is required, records are kept only as long as the requirement applies and remain protected as described in Section 5.
8. Your choices
- Access and correction. You can review and update your profile information in the app.
- Deletion. You can delete your account as described in Section 7.
- Email. Sign-in and account notifications are part of how the Service works. We do not send marketing email.
- Artificial intelligence. Using the artificial intelligence features is your choice. Nothing you enter is processed by artificial intelligence unless you use one of those features, and the rest of the Service works normally without them.
9. Children
Sherlock Warrants is a professional law enforcement tool. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect. The effective date at the top will always show the current version.
